![]() In my area - Smyrna, GA (L-Charter) - I've sometimes received The Weather Channel feed for Columbia, SC since that was probably the closest Legacy TWC system to my area. Legacy Charter areas get the national feed via streaming or sometimes the system attempts to map your location to the nearest feed availabe through streaming. If you leave your home or even home area, you will still see your local feed regardless of where you are. Legacy TWC/Bright House areas get their local Weather Channel feeds. Unless, and this is the reason for my post, my account or my local area is the anomaly and everyone else does get local insertion even over streaming. Why would I want to run local ads via Spectrum Reach if only cable box users - which are dwindling as Spectrum moves more and more to streaming - are even going to see them? This seems to be a glaring oversight in Spectrum's model if they want to be an attractive local marketing option but then are only able to serve those video ads over traditional QAM and not streaming - which seems to be the case. ![]() So this ends up also being a concern with Spectrum Reach, which I have considered as far as an advertising strategy either for my own business or to suggest to friends and acquaintances. And I have a number of friends with businesses. Now to cut to the point of why this matters (aside from that I'm old school and do actually enjoy watching the local government channel to see the city council meetings, local business spotlights and the like even though I'm sure I could just as easily find that info out elsewhere on the Internet) - I own one small business. ![]() Makes me wonder if in some way I'm seeing something different than those whose accounts were built more recently. I do recognize it may also be some sort of legacy coding on my account I have had streaming access since it first rolled out years ago with the original iteration of "Spectrum TV Choice" circa 2017(?) and then I later upgraded to Silver. This leads me to think that perhaps it's different for L-TWC than for L-Charter? This tends to resolve itself after a day or two and then it's back to the national feeds. And I've seen local ad insertion on cable channels via streaming - for the same L-TWC areas like Overland Park, Falls City, Lincoln, etc. Concurrently, I've had The Weather Channel show "local" info - for L-TWC areas 200-350 miles away. ![]() I've had the PEG channels show up in the app/guide on streaming (but display an error if I try to play them). What is strange is that a few times over the years this has not been the case. And then while I know The Weather Channel is not anything remotely close to what it once was and that there are a plethora of better ways to get weather information these days, even so, on the cable boxes it's information pertaining to the local DMA but on streaming it's a national feed. When cable channels go to ad breaks, on the cable boxes I'll see ads for local businesses (either market wide or for my specific sub-area) but on streaming it's low budget national ads for mail order products, alternative insurances, or Ad Council spots. But I see a number of differences in that I don't get the local P/E/G channels (like school district, community college and city government for example) on the app/streaming. Spectrum has told me on numerous occasions that there should be "no difference" between what I get on my cable boxes and what I get on the app/streaming. Local ads/local weather/local PEG channels on cable boxes No public/educational/government access channels on streaming Weather Channel is national feed on streaming No local ads on streaming but for an occasional ad for Spectrum Also am curious whether your local system was Charter, TWC or BHN before the merger in case that makes a difference, which I suspect it might. As the title says - I'm curious whether Spectrum TV app/streaming users get these channels (as well as local TV ads, local info on The Weather Channel, etc.).
